Councilor – Patrick Burkhart

Patrick Burkhart is an Associate Professor of Geology at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania.  He became a CUR member in 2003 and served as a Councilor from 2006-2009.

“If I were to pick the single best attribute of the work that has poised positive experiences for students, it would undoubtedly be the use of veterans to provide peer mentoring for novices.  The adventurous nature of the expeditions has developed a cadre of experienced alumni that seek the opportunity to return to the field and who are delighted to help tenuous new participants quickly get up to speed on proposing inquiry and prospering through rigorous conditions.”
